Lync 2010 - Astra/Polycom 20 second delay - FIXED!

10 BEEPS TOO MANY! After successfully configuring my Lync 2010 US site with an AudioCodes Mediant 1000 out to our PSTN the next step was getting the Lync clients to be able to 4-digit dial any of our legacy Toshiba PBX clients and vice versa. After configuring the connections from Lync to Toshiba and Toshiba back to Lync everything worked except there was no ringback tone on the Toshiba handset. While working on the Mediant I made some specific changes on the .ini file. It did not fix my RBT problem but it did cause another issue. IP phones Beeping Now any call I made from an Astra 6725ip or Polycom CX600 immediately started with 10 beeps or a 20 second delay before connecting. This issue did not occur on my Jabra Pro Headset via the Lync client. Only on the previously mentioned handsets. It occurred will calling other Lync 2010 clients or calling outside via the Mediant 1000 gateway to the PSTN. Play that Funky Trunk Tone While attempting some fixes for the "No RBT"

How to automatically change the Outlook 2010 Microsoft Exchange Proxy Setting

Image
How to automatically change the Outlook Microsoft Exchange Proxy Setting for all Outlook users at a certain site. Our company has decided to change the OWA default web site name. The original name, as an example, was owa.DomainName.com. The new name will be owa-us.DomainName.com. As we are adding many sites around the world we needed to differentiate between the various countries. Additionally we also implemented a certificate change to a wildcard, *.DomainName.com. I did not want to affect any other servers around the world just our US location servers. Here is how I accomplished the configuration change. #1 - Open the Exchange management Console (EMC) #2 - Navigate to "Server Configuration" #3 - Click on "Client Access." #4 - Click on the server you want to change. #5 - Double click on the server or right click then select Properties or click Properties in the right side Action Pane. #6 - Select the "Outlook Anywhere" tab. #7 - Modif

Netflix on the PS3 aip-701 error...

Netflix on PS3 AIP-701 Error - FIXED!!! Sometime ago Netflix made changes to the way you access their movies/shows. This change caused my Netflix account on the PS3 to load 25% of the movie/show then give me an AIP-701 error. I tried many ways to fix this problem. I reinstalled Netflix. I reset the Netflix account with the PS3 controller using the Start & Select hold buttons while starting the Netflix application. Nothing worked until I used these steps. You need to remove any saved Netflix data. Netflix retains data just like any PS3 game does. The stored data seems to contain old DNS entries that are now incorrect for the new Netflix application. STEPS TO FIX THE AIP-701 ERROR #1 - Delete the Netflix application. #2 - Delete Netflix stored data folder. #3 - Reinstall the Netflix application #4 - Start Netflix and login.  Follow the steps below to repair your Netflix. 1.     From the XMB home menu, go to  (TV/Video Services). 2.     Navigate to the Netflix

Lync 2010 - Suppress Caller ID...

Image
Lync 2010 - I am so suppressed! In the Lync 2010 environment users making external calls will have their caller id's exposed to the person they are calling. There may be a situation where your users do not want to have their phone numbers viewable so they can not be called directly. In such a case you can Suppress the Caller ID. #1 - Open the Lync 2010 Server Control Panel and navigate to Voice Routing. Then click the Route tab. #2 - Half way down the page you will see "Suppress caller ID".  #3 - Click on the check box to initiate. You then must give a "Alternate caller ID". #4 - Click "OK", Click "Commit" >>> "Commit All" then "OK" You users caller id will now be shown as the "Caller Alternative ID". This could be a phone number that represents the main company number or the Subscriber Access number.

Exchange 2010 – Exmerge has been Exmerged!

Image
Exchange 2010 – Exmerge has been Exmerged! In previous versions of Exchange exmerge was the tool used to move or fix emailboxs. Unfortunately in Exchange 2010 SP1 exmerge has been replaced by the “New-MailboxExportRequest” command. However there are a few prerequisites that need to be completed before you can run the export. Make sure you have a share you have proper access to or create one:   I just directed the export it to my share where I do my Exchange backups so I knew I had the correct permissions.   #1 - New-ManagementRoleAssignment –Role “Mailbox Import Export” –User “adm_polaski” You need to give yourself rights to Import/Export mailboxes. This is not given to admins by default. You must assign the rights. #2 - New-MailboxExportRequest -Mailbox Kumaran -FilePath "\\usn002\exchbackup\Kumaran_Recovered.pst" You should receive the input that the MailboxExport is queued.   #3 - Get-MailboxExportRequest | Get-MailboxExport

Lync 2010 Conference Room phones...

Lync 2010 Common Area Phones   My company is currently rolling out Lync phones to about 50 test users. In addition to regular users the test group also had a need for a conference room phone, a lab phone, and a common area office phone. The process is quick to configure and setup but it must be done with the Lync Server Management Shell.   A common area phone will have calling ability but lacks any of the Unified Messaging abilities like voice mail and missed call notifications. This will be just a digital phone.   STEP #1 EnableHotdesking   You need to configure the global policy to set the CsClientPolicy parameter "EnableHotdesking" to True. To check the CsClientPolicy use this commandlet:   Get-CsClientPolicy -Identity Global   PS C:\Users\adm_polaski> Get-CsClientPolicy -Identity Global Identity                                  : Global PolicyEntry                           : {} Description                            : . . EnableHotdesking

Insufficient vSphere HA failover resources error

vSphere 5 - Can not power on a VM Go to the VM cluster, right click then select Edit Settings. Click on vSphere HA. You will then see Admission Control and Admission Control Policy.   Admission Control is either set to Enable or Disable. If it’s set to Enable you will not be able to power on a vm if they are not enough resources for HA according to your Admission Control Policy. You need enough a available resources, memory, cpu, and hard disk, to vMotion   your vm from a failed host. If you have 3 hosts and your policy is set to “Host Failures the cluster tolerates: 1” the your surviving hosts must have enough resources to power up and run the vm’s from the failed host. If you do not have enough resources and you Admission Control is set to “Enable: Disallow VM power on operations that violate availability constraints” you will not be able to power on any new vm’s. You will be able to create the new vm’s.

Uninstalling Exchange 2010 SP2 Rollup 4 – Public Folders

If you have run the .\MoveAllReplicas.ps1 -Server servername   -NewServer newservername but some time has passed before you try to uninstall the Exchange mailbox role then you may have to rerun the script. If you see this error: " The public folder database <name of pfdb> can not be deleted The public folder database contains folder replicas. Before deleting the public folder database, remove the folders or move the replicas to another public folder database." Additionally make sure the OAB is no longer publishing to the server web site you want to remove.

Exchange 2010 – EMC and EMS will not connect: FIXED

I have faced this problem twice now. Once on a new install which I was never able to fix and recently on an Exchange 2010 PS2 Rollup 4 uninstall. Problem: Lost connectivity to the Exchange Management Console and the Exchange Management Shell After uninstalling Microsoft Forefront Server Protection 2010 for Exchange Server I lost connect to the EMC and the EMS. After reviewing many Technet and Exchange forum fixes nothing worked. Solution: Uninstall the Hub Transport role on the Exchange server. After being unable to connect to do the troubleshooting I started to uninstall the Exchange server in pieces instead of trying to fix it. The main goal was to uninstall the Exchange 2010 server completely, upgrade the server hard drives and memory, and then reinstall new. After uninstalling the Client Access role I was still unable to connect the EMC and the EMS. Next I uninstalled the Hub Transport role. Viola I was able to connect to the Exchange Management Console and the E
